24 Feb, 2pm Fairtrade Banana Parade – Lingfield Primary School

Over 350 pupils and staff from Lingfield Primary School, who recently were awarded Fairtrade status, took part in a FAIRTRADE BANANA PARADE through Lingfield village on Monday 24 February 2014, 2pmFT Parade

During this spring term the pupils throughout the school had been learning about FAIRTRADE and how children on the other side of the world can benefit from Fairtrade products bought in our local shops each week.

The children had been busy preparing for the day and processed with themed colours, masks, streamers and costumes to Lingfield Park racecourse through the village. At the racecourse the children mounted a Fairtrade display that was in place for the whole of the Fairtrade Fortnight.

The parade celebrates the 20th anniversary of the FAIRTRADE Mark and featured this year’s  Fairtrade Fortnight ‘Make Bananas Fair’ theme.

We are grateful to Sainsburys in East Grinstead for donating Fairtrade Bananas for the parade participants.
